    About this product

When a sprayed coat suits the job better than a brush

Brushing a finish around tile edges and grout lines takes patience. The Homax Tough as Tile spray puts the idea into aerosol cans: an epoxy enamel in gloss white that you build up in light passes. The pack holds two 16 oz cans, 32 oz in total, and the paint is rated for interior and exterior use.

Spraying reaches into uneven spots that a brush drags over, but it also sends mist where you do not want it. You will spend real time masking walls, fixtures and the floor. Aerosol enamel gives off strong fumes, so plan this for a room you can empty and air out, with nobody else around while you spray.

    Before you start

Refinishing a tub is done in a small room with the door half shut, which is where solvent fumes collect. Air the room the whole time, follow the label and the safety data sheet of the kit, and never strip an old finish with a methylene chloride stripper: OSHA and NIOSH traced the deaths of bathtub refinishers to exactly that.
