For best results

  • Mask floors, windows and trim before you start, because a sprayer throws texture wider than a can.
  • Practice on scrap until you can repeat the pattern before you spray a finished room.

How to use

  1. Step 1Connect the sprayer to your compressor and fit the air shut-off valve.
  2. Step 2Open a texture cartridge with the seal cutter and load it into the sprayer.
  3. Step 3Pick a tip and an air setting, then test the pattern on scrap drywall.
  4. Step 4Spray the wall or ceiling in overlapping passes, then clean the tip and gaskets with the brush.

About this product

Texturing several rooms without a hopper

A hopper gun means mixing texture in a bucket, filling the hopper and washing it all out at the end. The Homax Tex-Pro system loads ready-mixed texture in sealed cartridges instead. You connect the sprayer to an air compressor, push a cartridge in and pull the trigger, so one person can handle the job from setup to cleanup.

Three spray tips, small, medium and large, plus the air pressure setting and two texture formulas give you light or heavy orange peel and knockdown on interior walls and ceilings. The kit packs spare gaskets, an air shut-off valve, a cleaning brush and a seal cutter in a carry case. The compressor and the cartridges are sold separately, so budget for both.

Before you start

An aerosol texture can is under pressure and its propellant burns: keep it away from open flame and heat while you spray, air the room, and do not leave a can in a hot car or a sunny window. Sanding the patch first raises fine dust, so wear a dust mask and catch it on a drop cloth.
